7-Grain Dark Bread

2 c Seven Grain cereal

1 c Oatmeal

1 c Rye flour

3 pk Yeast

3 c Warm liquid-ppotato water

And/or scalded milk

1 c Water

1/2 c Molasses

6 T Brown sugar

4 T Melted shortening

4 ts Salt

5-7 c. white flour

Combine dry ingredients and mix. Add warm liquid, water, molasses, and shortening. Mix well and beat thoroughly. Then add 5 to 7 cupps white flour. Mix by hand. Place on floured board and knead well. Put into greased bowl, cover with dampp towel, and let rise 1 1/2-2 hours. Punch down and let rise again 1 1/2-2 hours. Punch down and knead on flour surface. Form into 3 large and 1 small loaves. Place into greased bread pans. Cover with cloth and let rise 1 hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool on racks for 10-15 minutes.
